The Cardiac Surgical Technologist assists the surgical team in the Cardiac Operating Room by preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures. They maintain sterile technique, handle instruments properly, and facilitate room turnover. This role requires technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures.
- Assist the surgical team from the scrub position during operations.
- Ensure proper care and handling of instruments.
- Facilitate room turnover between cases.
- Maintain sterile technique.
- Ensure safe handling of sharps.
- Perform surgical counts as per hospital policy.
- Demonstrate proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under the direction of a registered nurse.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- NBSTSA Certification or 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technician
- BLS (American Heart Association ONLY)
- Two (2) years of recent experience in a cardiac OR
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- OR experience in a level 1 trauma
Special Considerations:
- Must be able to scrub and circulate.
- Requires working weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts per unit needs.
- D/E/N rotating shifts on the inpatient units
Scheduling:
- 36 or 48 hours per week
- DEN rotation
