Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Construction Senior Safety Manager to lead safety across all construction projects in the US. This role is responsible for developing and executing company-wide safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a proactive safety culture. You will lead a team of safety professionals, drive key performance indicators (KPIs), and partner closely with general contractors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to achieve operational excellence in workplace safety.
**Responsibilities:**
**Leadership & Team Management**
+ Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of safety professionals across multiple job sites.
+ Take responsibility for managing outsourced consultants across all Design & Construction assets.
+ Promote a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.
**Program Development & Strategy**
+ Design, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive safety programs aligned with company goals and industry best practices.
+ Develop long-term safety strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with project and organizational objectives.
+ Oversee training programs for employees and subcontractors, ensuring safety knowledge and compliance across the board.
**Partnerships & Collaboration**
+ Collaborate with general contractors and subcontractors to align safety practices across job sites.
+ Act as a key liaison between project teams, clients, and regulatory bodies.
+ Partner with internal departments including Operations, HR, and Legal to ensure safety programs support business and compliance needs.
+ Regularly visit our development sites and engage with the H&S leadership from our General Contractors.
**Compliance & Risk Management**
+ Provide guidance on H&S for new development sites / cities.
+ Ensure all projects meet or exceed OSHA, local, and federal safety regulations.
+ Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
**Metrics & Reporting**
+ Define, track, and report on KPIs related to safety performance (e.g., TRIR, near-miss frequency, training completion).
+ Responsible for the optimization of CyrusOne health and safety scorecard (leading and lagging data) throughout the course of each construction project.
+ Analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for proactive intervention.
+ Ensure integration with CyrusOne corporate systems and procedures.
+ Present regular updates to executive leadership and project stakeholders.
**Qualifications:**
+ **Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).**
+ Minimum 8+ years of safety leadership experience in the construction industry.
+ In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards, risk management principles, and construction safety practices.
+ Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
+ Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
+ Experience with incident management systems and safety management software.
+ Travel up to 40%
+ Prior supervisory experience - doesn't have to be a big staff
+ Project management - managed big projects and know how to manage people
+ Working with vendors would be fine as well
+ Mission critical or data center is a huge bonus - would go to the front of the line; infrastructure (concrete, steel, wastewater treatment)
