JOB SUMMARY
ARRO, Powered by ISF, is a mission-critical SaaS platform that streamlines operational efficiency for the National Guard. Our product is designed to handle large-scale deployments, real-time data processing, and secure communication. We’re a growing, innovative team focused on delivering top-tier user experiences, and we’re seeking a dedicated Director of Engineering & Security to lead our support function.
The Director of Engineering & Security is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for setting the vision and direction of our engineering and security practices. This senior leadership role ensures our technology organization is aligned to business goals, future-ready, and operating at scale. The Director drives the transition from a project-based to a product-centric culture, builds secure-by-design principles into all processes, and champions the hiring of key technical roles — including a Software Architect. This role focuses on strategy, organizational leadership, compliance, and culture-building , rather than day-to-day sprint delivery.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic & Organizational Leadership
Define the company’s long-term technology and security strategy in alignment with product and business goals.
Lead and manage the Software Development Manager, providing coaching, guidance, and career development.
Drive hiring for senior technical roles, including the Software Architect and other high-impact positions.
Represent technology in executive-level discussions and strategic planning sessions.
Process & Standards
Define and enforce the organization’s Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) , Agile standards, and DevOps maturity model.
Establish quality, security, and compliance benchmarks for the engineering organization.
Approve and oversee high-level architecture direction in partnership with the Tech Lead and Software Architect.
Security & Compliance
Own the organization’s security posture, including compliance with frameworks such as FedRAMP, SOC 2, and HIPAA.
Ensure secure design principles are embedded in architecture, development, and operations.
Partner with external auditors, consultants, and internal leaders to achieve and maintain certifications.
Culture & Continuous Improvement
Foster a culture of ownership, trust, and continuous learning across the technology organization.
Anticipate technical and organizational risks, communicating them transparently with proposed solutions.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
7+ years in technology leadership roles, including experience managing managers.
Proven success scaling engineering teams and implementing security/compliance frameworks.
Hands-on experience implementing SDLC processes and DevOps practices at scale.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong knowledge of modern cloud technologies, CI/CD tools, and security principles.
Experience hiring, developing, and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
Prior experience transitioning from project-based to product-centric development environments.
Excellent communication and leadership skills; able to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, FedRAMP, HIPAA, etc.).
Passion for coaching teams and building healthy, sustainable engineering organizations.
