The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA standards. This role supports a fast-paced, highly regulated government/military environment and requires hands-on site engagement, inspections, and employee training.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and enforce environmental health and safety policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and workplace safety regulations
Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments
Identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions
Provide safety training and guidance to employees and leadership
Support handling, storage, and shipping activities to ensure regulatory compliance
Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and compliance records
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to promote a strong safety culture
Manage multiple EHS-related projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis
U.S. Citizenship (mandatory)
High School Diploma/GED plus 20+ years of relevant experience
OR Associate's Degree plus 14+ years of experience
OR Bachelor's Degree plus 12+ years of experience
OR Master's Degree plus 10+ years of experience
Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and environmental health and safety regulations
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects
Experience delivering safety training and presentations
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
Ability to climb ladders and access elevated areas for inspections
Comfortable performing on-site safety inspections in industrial or facilities settings
Hybrid work environment with on-site presence required
Experience in government, military, defense, or highly regulated environments
Background in facilities management, manufacturing, or environmental compliance
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
