Job Description

Checker Hall is currently in search of a Host/Server Assistant to join our team. We're looking for a hospitality focused individual who's ready to be the warm, friendly face that welcomes each and every guest into our space. This is a multi-faceted role in which the ideal candidate is someone who can do more than just seat guests and is ready to help reset tables, run food, and maintain the floor to ensure a seamless experience for our entire service. We ask that you are dependable, punctual, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Prioritization and communication with your teammates, managers, and guests is critical to success and we have high expectations for knowledge, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.

Key Responsibilities:
• Guest Reception: Warmly greet and welcome guests as they arrive, ensuring they feel valued and comfortable from the moment they step into the restaurant.
• Seating Coordination: Manage reservations and walk-ins efficiently, coordinating seating arrangements to optimize the dining experience for guests while maintaining smooth service flow for the restaurant.
• Reservation Management: Handle phone and online reservations, confirming and adjusting bookings as needed. Maintain accurate records of guest preferences and special occasions.
• Customer Service: Assist guests with any inquiries, accommodate special requests, and address any concerns with a positive and solution-oriented approach.
• Waitlist Management: Accurately estimate wait times for guests without reservations, managing the waitlist to ensure timely seating and satisfaction.
• Communication: Liaise with servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service, updating them on guest arrivals, special requests, and any service needs.
• Ambiance Maintenance: Ensure the entrance, host stand, and surrounding areas are clean, organized, and visually appealing at all times. Monitor the dining area to help maintain an inviting atmosphere.

Qualifications:
• Experience: Previous experience as a host or in a customer service role is preferred, particularly in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment.
• Skills: Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively. A friendly and professional demeanor is essential.
• Customer Focus: A genuine passion for hospitality and a desire to provide excellent service to every guest.
• Schedule Flexibility: Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting.
