Job Description

MetroLagoons operates world-class lagoon destinations across Florida, blending resort-style amenities with innovative guest experiences. With multiple properties open and more in development, we are growing rapidly and building a team that can support expansion, drive profitability, and elevate guest and employee experiences.

Position Summary–  We are seeking an organized and motivated individual to join our team in a unique split role. This position is 50% entry-level HR Assistant and 50% Payroll Specialist. This is a full-time, salaried role that offers hands-on experience in HR operations while also handling advanced payroll responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Payroll:

  • Process payroll accurately and on time for all employees
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Maintain payroll records and reports
  • Partner with HR and finance to resolve payroll discrepancies
  • Utilize moderate to advanced Excel skills (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, data validation, reporting) to support payroll accuracy and reporting needs

HR Support:

  • Support day-to-day HR operations, including onboarding, benefits administration, and employee record management
  • Assist with HR reporting and compliance tasks
  • Respond to basic employee inquiries and direct more complex questions to senior HR staff
  • Help coordinate training, meetings, and HR-related events
  • Complete other administrative tasks as necessary (prepare orientation packets, screen resumes, attend onsite hiring events), etc.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in payroll processing
  • minimum of 1 year HR support roles.; degree in HR, business, or related field preferred
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (Paychex Oasis or similar strongly preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and payroll compliance practices.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive employee data confidentially.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with remote teams and onsite teams.
  • Hospitality or multi-site seasonal workforce experience is a plus.

Workplace Environment:

  • This is an in-office position at the MetroLagoons corporate office based in Tampa, FL.
