Job Description

For over 100 years, Maguire Iron has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. The Shop Industrial Sandblaster/Paint Foreman will be responsible for maintaining the safe and efficient sandblasting and paint shop operations through communication, and execution of processes and systems.

The shift will run  Monday-Thursday; 10-hour days (5:00pm-3:30am) .

Management Duties:

  • Document personnel issues and communicate them with Human Resources and Director of Manufacturing.
  • Motivates, maintains, and encourages others to work safely, productive, and quality conscious.

Production:

  • Proficient in the use of all safety, sandblasting, painting and rigging equipment.
  • Prioritize and schedule material for sandblast and paint to ensure efficient and timely production and minimize downtime.
  • Verify inventory is sufficient to complete jobs.
  • Lead weekly production meetings.
  • Work closely with Director of Manufacturing
  • Confirm paint submittals and distribute as needed.
  • Ensure proper use of all equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues, breakdowns.
  • Offer recommendations/improvements on rigging, safety, painting and sandblasting equipment and practice.
  • Ensure parts are documented, and tracking reports are completed.
  • Ensure all shop employees are using the ERP system and have proper documentation.

Safety:

  • Ensure that all work is performed with SAFETY as the number one priority.
  • Create and facilitate a safe work environment.
  • Ensures shop safety standards are met by employees and visitors.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources/Safety to ensure proper training is conducted.
  • Resolve any safety inspection issues.
  • Complete incident reports.

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in production supervision, sandblasting/painting preferred.
  • Experience operating a forklift, heavy equipment, and overhead cranes. 
  • Knowledge of sandblasting and painting techniques and materials.
  • Proven experience in getting work done through others in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as ASME Code, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to read and interpret bar-graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Utilize an ERP system and basic computer skills in MS Outlook, Excel and Word.

Work Environment:

  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
  • Must be able to work outside in both a hot and cold environment.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Adhere to Maguire’s PPE Policy and Safety Programs.
  • Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work with ladders, catwalks and in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
