An exciting role as a Payroll Manager who will be accountable for managing the payroll function of our organization. Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, this role will be an integral member of the team ensuring the smooth processing of our biweekly payroll. In addition, customer service is a key part of this role, assisting managers and employees with all payroll-related inquiries. This role will coordinate processes across payroll, accounting, and human resources ensuring an accurate and timely flow of information across all groups.

This position covers a range of activities including:

  • Responsible for managing, processing, and auditing all aspects of payroll
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
  • Ensure bi-weekly payroll is completed accurately, and on time, and that wages, salaries, deductions and garnishments are paid in accordance with established policies and the law, for 100+ employees
  • Research, analyze, and resolve all payroll discrepancies, escalating up to management as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll information
  • Perform routine audits and process adjustment entries (year-to-date taxes, taxable wages, earnings and deductions) on employee records as needed
  • Reconciliation of tax accounts
  • Administer 401(k) deferrals and loans, perform compliance testing and preparation for annual audit
  • Participate in audits such as workers comp as it relates to payroll activities
  • Manages year-end process including W2s and other tax forms
  • Assist Finance department with any general ledger, payroll audit, tax issues and other duties that may be assigned
  • Assist with HR Paychex system in entering new hires into the platform.
  • Assist HR with responding to any inquiries regarding paychecks, new hires, terminations, 401K and other duties that may be assigned
  • Responds appropriately to all inquiries about payroll policies and procedures in a timely, accurate, and professional manner while always maintaining confidentiality
  • Responsible for implementation of any new pay platforms
  • Analyze and recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency

You Offer…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a payroll position
  • Payroll experience required, including but not limited to timecard uploads, auditing payroll changes/timecard entries and payroll processing
  • Experience with Paychex Flex is a plus
  • Experience processing multi-state payroll
  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations
  • Thorough understanding of benefits, deductions, pre/post tax items
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel
  • Working knowledge of Time and Attendance programs
  • Strong work ethic and team player
  • High degree of professionalism
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Strong communication skills, and sense of urgency
  • Ability to communicate with various levels of management
  • Being able to work under pressure
  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Manufacturing experience a plus
