Location Description:

The award-winning, 480-acre Saddlebrook Resort has made a name for itself as a premier meeting and vacation destination, as well as one of the nation’s preeminent athletic training facilities. Purposely planned as a car-free Walking Village, the resort setting allows guests to easily walk everywhere, surrounded by lagoons and cypress trees. Families and groups visiting our upscale hotel near Tampa, Florida, may choose from 495 rooms clustered around nine serene courtyards complete with gardens, stone benches, stone paver walkways, and native Florida landscaping. Overview:

The Residential Mentor will be responsible for monitoring our student athletes and the residence dorms promoting a safe, secure, and healthy environment for their development. This person will report to the Residential Life Manager

Position Responsibilities

Ø Serve as a responsible, adult presence in the dorm. Actively supervise, engage with, and promote social growth and inclusion among students.

Ø Oversee and maintain residence hall, including room checks and headcount.

Ø Promote and maintain a safe, secure, and healthy living environment

Ø Enforce policies and procedures ensuring that the student-athlete code of conduct is being maintained

Ø Participate and follow up on recreational, educational for student-athletes

Ø Assist student-athletes with learning, character building, community development, and personal well-being

Ø Be aware of student-athletes’ daily schedules

Ø Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethic codes

Ø Other duties as assigned

Ø Monitor students in dorms and throughout campus, including wake up and curfew times

Ø Perform regular walkthroughs and inspections of the residence halls working with maintenance, accommodation, and other departments to coordinate and direct upkeep requests

Ø Coordinate with safety and security staff to ensure the security of students and dorms

Ø Assist with housing process including check in/out, early arrivals and opening/closing of dorms

Ø Attend and contribute to department meetings

Ø Attend and participate in staff training

Ø Assist with orientation and acclimation of student-athletes to student life

Ø Keep detailed notes and daily activity reports

Ø Collaborate with departments including sports, academics, and health services for student-athlete’s development

Ø Communicate and follow up on conduct expectations of all student-athletes

Ø Communicate and enforce appropriate disciplinary actions for violations

Ø Collaborate and communicate emergency response and crisis management plans for various situations including weather, lockdown, student illness, injury, etc.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ø Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Education, Child Psychology or related area

Ø Must possess good judgment and sensitivity relating to students of various backgrounds

Ø Ability to handle challenging situations professionally and with sensitivity

Ø Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ø Excellent guest service skills

Ø Highly organized with the ability to juggle and prioritize multiple projects effectively

Ø Ability to multitask in a fast-paced organization

Ø A superior work ethic

Ø Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Ø At least 1 years’ experience working with students grades 6 through 12

Ø Master’s degree in education, Counseling, Psychology or related areas

Ø Experience in education, sports or related areas

Ø Experience as a collegiate athlete

Ø Experience with residential life in a boarding school environment and/or summer camps

Ø Experience in counseling, crisis response, and mediation

Ø Experience in a high-pressure, academic/performance setting

Ø First Aid and CPR Certification

Ø Proficient with computers and computer systems

Ø Bilingual

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Ø Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required

Ø Must be able to move around campus, which includes gym, turf, fields, stairs, etc.

Ø This role is considered essential and may be required to work during weather emergencies or business closures in order to meet operational requirements
