Job Description

This document provides an expanded breakdown of the key roles and responsibilities of the proposed Rug Gallery Specialist. The goal of this position is to lead, grow, and operationally support the rug division of Marshall Flooring with continuity and strategic intent.
Sales & Customer Experience
 Greet and assist walk-in customers and incoming calls, making a strong first impression.
 Not taking “Ups” supporting Flooring Specialists.
 Ask in-depth discovery questions (Size, Style, Color, Fiber, Texture, Budget) to guide customer decision-making.

 Lead in-home consultations with clients to measure, recommend, and close sales on-site.

 Upsell rugs as part of the flooring sales process in collaboration with existing sales team.
 Manage quoting, follow-up, and sales documentation through RFMS and HubSpot.
 Ensure white-glove follow-through with all clients including post-install touchpoints.
Purchasing & Inventory Management
 Flooring Specialists to place orders and communicate lead-times and/or backorders.
 Coordinate with warehouse for received rug shipments and ensure correct storage.
 Update product tagging and ensure inventory is reflected accurately in RFMS.
 Monitor vendor stock levels and replenish best-selling SKUs strategically.
 Creating and following budgetary guidelines for stock purchasing (Quarterly, Annually).
 • The 2026 buying budget is $50,000–$60,000 (excluding restocks of top performers),with two large seasonal purchases planned annually.
Vendor & Trade Relationships
 Maintain and grow strong relationships with key rug vendors.
 Negotiate pricing, private labeling, and exclusive offerings when possible.
 Act as liaison between company and vendor reps for product training and marketing.
 Create programs for designer, builder, and architect accounts to promote repeat business.
Merchandising & Floor Presentation
 Oversee visual presentation of in-stock rug displays on hanging arms and open floor.
 Rotate inventory seasonally and based on performance trends.
 Ensure all rugs are accurately tagged with in-stock and special order pricing.
 Participate in physical merchandising by hanging or dropping rugs with team support.

Sales Tools & Strategic Support
 Track sales performance and customer data using HubSpot and RFMS.
 Work with leadership on monthly and quarterly sales reporting and goal setting.
 Identify gaps in process and create tools, training, or templates to support the broader sales team.
 Report insights and propose new opportunities for sales, product mix, or vendor enhancements.
 Prior to submission to the back office, all rug orders must be reviewed for accuracy in materials, quantities, and line items.
Miscellaneous
• Stair runners are not considered part of the Rug division, but commission credit is provided when sold during consultations.
• Bound broadloom carpets cut and finished as rugs are counted toward rug sales revenue and tracked accordingly.
• Incentive structure includes weighted incentives for both prefab rugs and bound rug sales.
• All rug orders must be entered under RFMS Store “1” for consistency across tracking and reporting.
• Prefab rugs utilize Product Code 17 for easy tracking; fabricated rugs will be assigned a dedicated product code to distinguish performance.
