Job Description
As a Splunk Administrator, you'll make an impact by building and maintaining reliable, high-performing Splunk environments that power real-time insights across our cloud platforms. Your work will directly impact system uptime, customer experience, and operational excellence. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate processes, strengthen observability, and drive proactive improvements that keep our environment secure, scalable, and always available. You will be a valued member of the Cloud Infrastructure and Security team and work collaboratively with the Senior Manager.
**In this role, you will**
- Deliver hands-on 24x7 operational support for Splunk, managing and resolving issues quickly and accurately.
- Develop automation and orchestration solutions using Puppet, Ansible, and Python to simplify and scale routine tasks.
- Lead Splunk maintenance, migrations, and upgrades, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.
- Review and validate all operational changes through peer-review and governance processes to ensure quality and reliability.
- Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve Splunk or infrastructure issues, escalating when needed for fast recovery.
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to improve monitoring, alerting, and observability practices.
- Use ServiceNow, JIRA, and Splunk dashboards to track performance, visualize trends, and share key insights.
- Drive continuous improvement through documentation, automation, and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align projects and service delivery with business priorities and SLAs.
- Contribute to a reliability-first culture by mentoring teammates and advocating for automation, consistency, and transparency.

**What you need to have to be considered**
- 5+ years of experience in Splunk Engineering, or Cloud Operations role.
- Deep hands-on expertise with Splunk administration, configuration, and performance tuning.
- Skilled in automation and orchestration using Puppet.
- Proficient in Python scripting for automation and operational workflows.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills across distributed systems.
**These will help you stand out**
- Experienced in ticketing and service management systems like ServiceNow or JIRA.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on building positive team relationships.

The annual salary for this position is between $91,000 - $105,000 USD depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
